Conference Description On March 1st and 2nd, the Provost's Office will host its second annual conference on Interdisciplinarity at the Pyle Center.   Whereas last year’s conference looked at the broad history of and opportunities for interdisciplinarity at UW, 2007's 2nd Annual University of Wisconsin Conference on Interdisciplinarity: The Cluster Hiring Initiative will focus specifically on the Cluster Hiring Initiative as a landmark case study.  The program of events will review the background of the Cluster Hiring Initiative, evaluate its present successes, and look towards the future of such interdisciplinary efforts on this campus.

Over two days, the conference will highlight three key themes across the cluster programs: collaborative research, curriculum building, and outreach and extra-curricular programming.  In addition, Dr. Veronica Boix Mansilla, Prof. Thanassis Rikakis, and Dr. Norka Ruiz Bravo will deliver keynote addresses on issues of interdisciplinarity in each of the humanities, sciences, and social sciences.

We invite all interested to register in advance, as pre-registered attendees will receieve more comprehensive conference materials.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day.
