PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

Proposals should be organized as outlined below:

  1. Program Plan and Objectives. Describe the goals and objectives of the proposal. What methods will be used to accomplish your goals and objectives? Be specific and provide concrete examples. Where possible, use quantifiable terms since evaluation and transfer of years two and three funding will be based on adequate progress towards meeting stated objectives. Describe the relationship between the proposal and existing programs, and include a statement of how this project is a new initiative or is a new dimension to an existing outreach activity.

  2. Intended Audience and Anticipated Outcomes. Include description of your anticipated audience(s), the specific needs you will serve, how you identified those needs, and how the audience(s) will use the information and benefit from your project.

  3. Time Frame and Location. Describe the project timeline and where the activities/program(s) will be held. Be specific for each year of your proposed project.

  4. Promotion and Publicity Plan. Explain how you will promote this program/activity to your intended audience(s), and/or how you intend to transfer knowledge and resources.

  5. Evaluation. Describe how you will measure and evaluate specific objectives in years one, two, and three as well as total project outcomes. For multiple-year projects, annual progress reports will be due around the first week of October each year of the request. Funding for years two and three will be contingent upon making adequate progress toward meeting outcomes and objectives, and notification of continued funding will occur around the first week of November. Upon completion of the project, a final report must be submitted.

  6. Partnerships and Commitment. Briefly describe how this project will extend the resources of your department/unit/collaborative program. Identify formal or informal partners and co-sponsors in the project and describe how you are working with the partnership organization to accomplish your goals and objectives. List department/unit/partnership support, sources for any matching funds, and any expected program revenue to be generated. Letters of support (one-page maximum) from essential partnering organizations or constituents are encouraged.

  7. Future Plans. If appropriate, describe how this project will continue after completion of this grant.

  8. Personnel. Include the names, titles, departments, and specific roles of key project individuals. Include a one-page curriculum vita for the key project director(s) and other key project personnel.

  9. Program Budget Request. Complete the project budget form detailing funding requests for years one, two, and three of the project. For details, see budget instructions. NOTE: If there is an increase in the requested budget from the preproposal, please provide a detailed explanation.

PROPOSAL REVIEW

A committee appointed by the Provost will review the proposals and make recommendations on which projects to fund. Notification of those receiving funding will be made by January 15, 2008. Projects may start on or after January 15, 2008 and run through December 31, 2010.
