Guidelines for Preproposals
A preproposal should be no more than two double-spaced pages
(not including the cover page or budget summary form)
with each copy stapled in the upper left hand corner. It should contain
the following information:
Cover page
Include preproposal
cover sheet with
appropriate project leader(s), department and dean's level signatures.
You
must fill in the preproposal cover sheet and submit it on-line before printing
the page on your local printer. This involves a three step
process:
- click on the Preproposal Cover Sheet link and fill in the information
boxes (proofread carefully and make corrections before submitting);
- click the Submit and Print for Signature box; and
- print the page that appears on your screen to submit with your preproposal
to your dean’s office for signatures.
Program plan
Describe the goals and objectives of the proposal. What methods and formats
will be used to accomplish your goals and objectives? Be specific and provide
concrete examples. Describe the relationship between the proposal and existing
programs, and include a statement of how this project is a new initiative
or is a new dimension to an existing outreach activity.
Intended audience and anticipated outcomes
Who is the audience you will serve, and how will the intended audience(s)
benefit from your project? Identify partnering organizations and co-sponsors
and how they will be involved in the project. (Please note: do not include
letters of support from partnering organizations at the preproposal stage. However,
letters of support will be required at the full proposal stage.)
Time frame and location
What is the timeline and where will the activity(s)/program(s) be held.
Personnel
Names, titles, departments, and roles of key personnel. Do not include a
one-page vita at the preproposal stage.
Budget
Complete the project budget form detailing
funding requests for years one, two, and three of the project. For details,
see budget instructions. Please note
that annual budgets and progress reports will be required for multiple-year
projects.

the upper left hand corner. Preproposals must be signed by the sponsoring
